Hair: Medium-length blonde, swept and trimmed to the rear of his head - Excepting a crest of six-inch blonde spikes, shoved back from his forehead.
Eyes: A gleaming sapphire blue.
Complexion: Fair.
Orientation: Bisexual. If they're sexy, he likes 'em.
Distinguishing Marks: A large, black tattoo of tribal spikes that frames most of the left side of his face. He's considering having more ink done.

Likes: Hot dogs, sex, beating monsters senseless, training, Girl Next Door and Combat King magazines, tasteless clothing, and flagrant use of hair gel.
Dislikes: Sitting still, being bullied, thinking when he could be acting.
Favorite color: Bright red.
Favorite weapon: His own fists and martial arts training, while wearing studded leather gloves.

Lover: Irvine and Squall, who have formed a loving three-way relationship with Zell.

Abilities: If he's down for the count, ZeLL can get a second wind long enough to pull off a series of especially difficult fighting techniques in what he calls "Duel". (His "Limit Break".)
Guardian Forces: Also called "GF"s, the Guardian Forces are powerful near-deities whose exact origins are unknown. They are typically elemental or magic based creatures with distinct personalities. Zell allows his junctioned GFs to possess a part of himself at all times. The one GF which he never removes from his person is Quezacotl (lightning based). There are certain side effects on humans trying to harness this energy, however, including but not limited to memory loss and flashbacks. While Zell has seen the tip of the iceberg as far as negative GF residuals go, he fears that he will be left weak without them.
Drawbacks: He's not always the sharpest tack in the box, though Zell's self-doubt, short attention span, and brash nature are perhaps the worst of his flaws.

Past:
Like most of the other main FFVIII characters, Zell grew up in an orphanage. Having a reputation for being a cry-baby, Zell decided after being adopted that he would suck it up. His adopted mother allowed him to enroll at the training center Balamb "Garden" at thirteen, and started working hard to become a "Seed" elite soldier. Tired of being smallest and weakest, he used his war hero grandfather as a role model, and became expert at martial arts and boxing. Since, he has graduated as an active Seed mercenary, and helped save his world with his old childhood companions.

When Squall, his unit commander, was forced to take some R & R, it was only a few days before Zell went to follow him through Trabia Forest. He knew something was wrong when a quick beeline through the forest lasted several days, and eventually bumped into Squall and Seifer. After a long and ugly falling out between Seifer, Squall, and Irvine, Zell was able to come to terms with his own feelings for the other soldier boys.

Current:
Zell was more then a little surprised to find himself with Irvine and Squall after some arduous bonding, and the three share quarters not only in the House but at Balamb Garden as well. Between those two and Cye, Zell has managed to become far more open-minded about sex and relationships. He's come a long way, from the schoolboy crush on the pig-tailed library girl, and has ended up happier than in his wildest dreams.
